Default How important are wires?

I am planning my performance mods for next summer. I have to set out a budget and find out what I want. I have heard problems arise from installing the MBRP Catback on the 1st gen tiburons, mostly because the pipe is too long.

Has anybody installed the MBRP on their 2nd gen, and what was the outcome? How easily was it installed, and how was the fit? I really don't want to spend $550 on a simple exhaust for it not to fit properly and one that requires a bit of modification to make it work. I've heard so many people who are pleased with it, so I really want to get some feedback

I am going to be in the market for a catback as well. Have you heard anything about the OBX catback?

Well, the good news is I have the OBX headers and the MBRP Catback, supposed to be a great combo.

Bad news is I'm still in Korea and it's in the US>

Now, here's what I've found out...

The MBRP and NEW OBX have everything you need (unless you want a high flow cat) to install. It fits, a 2001 perfectly. As for some being too long for 1st gens, I've got a few questions...

Where is it too long at? Did the folks installling it have 1 or 2 cats? Was that particular system made for 1 or 2 cats? Did they order the right system for their car? Where did they order it? Is the system they got actually MBRP or is someone making a copy of it (For the price some of these go for on ebay, I'd not be suprised).

ANyways, when I get back I will be doing a full DIY and writeup on every item I've got to install. Pictures and details.

We NEED a DIY section BTW Java.

As for the OBX Catback, didn't know there was one.

DIY section added.

If you go to http://www.ssautochrome.com , you can see the OBX Catback for our cars. I asked him about them and he said they were out of stock for now, but would be getting more in the future. The part number is EXTIB97 and they are $329.95.

On the MBRP website they list the catback as being for the 98-01. Is there any difference in the exhaust between the 97 and 98?

No difference there, but the 2001 went to a 3 bolt flange on about 90% of the cars. Folks with a 2001 or that don't know what year their 2nd gen is need to check their flange for 2 or 3 bolts before ordering.

I'd love to hear how that OBX comes out!

I am also planning on OBX headers, with the MBRP catback, but it just seems so damn expensive... ~$550 or so? I guess I'll have to take everybody's word on it...

thanks for the info

I just installed obx 4 2 1 headers and catbacks on both my 2001 tiburon and 2000 elantra. the headers fit fine little tight on both the tiburon and the elantra but the catback did not fit the elantra till i had the mid pipe and the over the axle pipe extended but it's on now. in the auto tib i noticed a little differance but in my 5 spd elantra i did a burn out before and it would creep forward now after it just lays tire and my car just sits still did a 75 ft burn out definity a good buy contact http://www.ssautochrome.com he has a newer version i'm one of the first to install the new proto catbacks e-mail me for pics of my install

Can you post them in the gallery? That way everyone can see them.
