mandrel bending question
If you can, get pre-bent mandrel pipes (you can order them from summit racing or jcwhitney here in the states), and then have a shop cut and weld them together for you.
That's actually what a lot of shops do anyway: they stock the pre-bends and then weld them. They can make some pretty cool shapes with the pre-bends too. Very few shops in the D.C. area have a mandrel bending tool, so this practice is common.
Another alternative is go a 1/4" size up and have it crush bent. Not ideal, but it shouldn't hurt too much. The extra diameter compensates for the roughness of the crush bend.
