Default MagnaFlow cat

I have been battling a rattling in my exhaust. Today i decided to narrow down the search. I dropped my cat and took a peek inside to find the honey comb piece has been dislodged. I bought the cat just under a yr ago. BTW its a hi flow cat.
I just emailed the people i bought the item from. Hopefully it will be under warranty.

Just thought i might share that with you guys/gals.

does it make a bonking sound everytime you go over a bump?

the same thing happened to me with my catco. the inside came loose and it's just hopping around on the inside. i really don't know what other cat converter to get since both catco and magnaflow do this. seems it's doing nothing but clogging up the exhaust flow sad.gif

i got a P0442. so i bought an O2 non-fouler and it fixed the problem. i hear O2 non-fouler's are bad for the fuel injection but eh i don't feel like replacing an expensive cat.

I have had that rattle coming from my OEM cat for a while, super annoying. Just the other night I finally got a cat related CEL, cleared it and it's been good since.

Mine's a CarSound cat, they're part of Magnaflow now, but I don't think they were when I got mine. I've bought 2, another one for my Blazer and they haven't given me any problems.

the code or the broken cat? i have no idea why on earth it would do this. i always thought it's because the cat is a cheap POS.

jsharptooth91 you're lucky if it would be under warranty.

well p0442 is a evap small leak

like a gas cap being loose or a hole/bad o ring in the evap system

i ment when a cat breaks up like that MOST of the ones ive replaced at my work shows running lean in the computer

rattling in the cat is SUPER BAD get it fixed when i worked at nissan some pieces of cat actually would return to the motor and just straight up ruin the motor

wow thanks for the heads up!!! i'll make that my next priority. it must have happened all throughout my sensors being out and rear evap line to the tank loose the past 5 years up. i did get it fixed but i had no idea it could break up the cat.

i always always get those confused. i meant p0422 - Main catalyst effinciency below threshold (bank 1)

well the code 0422 can mean a o2 sensor

can also mean a shitty cat

start with the sensor and if it still returns you gotta bad cat OR have a bad a/f ratio and are letting hycrocarbons in the air from it running lean/rich
