The SR short shifter is not only shorter but shortens the gear throw also right? and I am not taking about the fact that if the rod is shorter the throw is shorter. In otherwords does the shortshifter make the gear throw shorter by the shortened rod alone. Thanks.

The vertical shifter is shorter, and the "lever" inside the shifter is longer. Both shorten gear throws.

No one has measured the throw of the stock shifter and then compared it to the throw of the Shark Racing Shifter....so it is sorta unknown.

thats cool but now I dont think I really need to know it since I found out the SR short shifter doesnt fit the 2001 elantra.

It doesn't? From what I saw on HMAService, they look identical from tiburon to elantra to 2001 elantra....
