Ok soo my friend got a 1.8l cam today from the junkyard from a 97' Elantra, and it has some weird extra metal on it.

I was just wondering what you guys thought of it, Is it ok?

Think It would be alright, should I file it down?

Comments please!

Looks like it should be fine. If you wanted, you could probably grind it of (mind you be VERY careful if doing this), but I wouldn't bother.

Oil slingers. Leave it.

That's my best guess.

ugh.gif Getting them out is super easy. take the valve cover off (5 minutes max) remove the bolts on the brackets holding it in. Boom...

The extra metal is from the casting process.
