Alright, I installed the Airram intake manifold from k-spec and after it was all done I had some problems. The first one was the CEL light came on for the TPS sensor, Hyundai said it shorted so they fixed it. Here's the problem, when I press down on the gas the car doesn't respond untill I press it down to a 1/2" or so, then all of a sudden it like, realizes that the gas is down an inch and takes off. It jolts or jerks when it finally catches. If you don't give it a lot of gas out of first gear it try's to stall out or bog down to 900 RPM. But if you punch it enough it's fine. Once your're in gear, if you let off of the gas peddle all the way, and press it down, same thing, hesitates till you press it down to that magic point, and then takes off with a jerk. Good for the ol' motor mounts i'm sure. Now the hesitiating and jerking only happens when I COMPLETELY release the gas peddle. If I let off the gas a little but not all the way and press it back down it's fine. Here's the kicker. Once in a while the CEL light comes on for the TPS sensor. And I mean once in a great while, as a matter of fact, it's only done it once since they fixed it and they it was the TPS sensor again, but the car was running better when the CEL light was on, so this time I told them not to screw with it. So they left it on and it was running better, still did the same thing, but not as bad, so I tried to eliminate the problem all together by tightening my throttle cable till it idled at 1200 RPM. After I did that I was never really letting the gas off all the was so it was happy, no jolts, no jerks, smooth like the old days. But it was short lived, the next day the CEL light shut off by itself and the car went back to running crappy. It even brought the RPMS back down to were they were supposed to be. Not sure how it was able to do that. Anybody know what the hell is wrong with my car?

 

Check your MAF? Sounds like you put it on backwards mang. Most of that is what happens when you do that.

Also, how tight are the cables for your throttle and cruise? Are they hooked up right?

Are all of your vaccum lines hooked up? Any vaccum leaks?

 

Where is the MAF sensor I don't even remember seeing it? And how'd I put it in backwards? The throttle's nice and tight. Trust me. There is no cruise control cable anymore. The new throttle body didn't have a place for it. Vaccuum lines are good. No leaks. I worked on those for a while. Tell me more about this MAF sensor you speak of please. Thanx.

If you live in North America (Please fill out your location in your profile) there would be an elbow between the MAF and your TB.

so basically :
Intake, MAF, Elbow, TB, IM.

Theres an arrow on it showing which direction the Air should be flowing thru it. that arrow should be pointing towards your firewall/Drivers ( for North America, Passenger for european or korean) seat.

Anyways, check your MAF first. Then RE CHECK YOUR VACCUM lines for leaks using some brake cleaner.

Having the lines on is one thing, having a leak is something else.

Did you use a new gasket when you installed the Airram? Does the gasket between the upper and lower airram halves have a leak? Did you PLUG any unused vaccum ports on the airram? Did you plug them GOOD?

Your cruise still works man. It's easy. Just zip tie your cruise cable to your throttle cable. or, if you are still using the OEM TB, or a BBTB that has a slot for the cable, just cut another slot into the angle bracket off of the airram that holds the cables. Whammo, cruise.

 

Oh i see. Yeah that's fine everything looks right. What if the elbow's backwards could that have caused it? I just took a quick picture. But I don't know how to post it on here.

 

This is the exact same problem me and Java are having with our BBTB ... And i'm still trying to solve it ..

Minus the CEL But i have the exact same prob .. I'm talking exact ..

 

Not the elbow you dork, the MAF. It's the big sensor withall the wires on it that has the BIG BLUE STICKER on it in the picture.

Yours may not have that sticker on it, but it WILL have an arrow on it, IT should be pointing in the direction of your TB/Airram.

 

I did not use a new gasket. Could it need a new gasket? Where would I get it? Could I like, blow smoke in the engine and see if it get's sucked in where the manifold connects? Or will that not work?
