Default Immobiliser Woes

Over the last few months my immobiliser has been on the blink. Sometimes remote will not work and will have to disconnect and re-connect battery till lights flash and then ok. Last week it totally died, and roadside assistance gave me a wire to bypass computer or whatever and jump start it from 'start' fuse slot. Took the car to Immobiliser outlet to install new immobiliser, who would not touch it claiming that there may be some backup, or feed or something and that the new unit may bugger his machine and catch on fire. Leading to car catching fire and him having to buy me a new car.

He said to take it to Hyundai. Is he full of s**t? Does he just think I releived someone else of the car??? I must admit hot-wiring the car every time I go somewhere has gotten me some funny stares????

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Immobiliser, meaning your valet switch? If that's the case, look at your fuse console underneath your dash and see if you can find the toggle switch.

As a quick update, had the new immobiliser installed today and funnily enough i have not yet blown up.

Now just need to throw a t3 on, boost it up, and if i blow up, do it in style.
