Default idel/rpm messed up

ok i went uptown to get gas for school this week(30 miles each way) and when i was slowing down for the stop light my rps were setting at 2k and woudl bounce to liek 2k3 and then i was sitting at the same stop lgiht going back and i was ideling at 3k???? can anyone explain

did it only happen at the one stop light anot any others and not anywere else ??

I had the problem with my throttle position sensor. If that happens again, leave your engine on and look under the hood at the throttle body. You should find the tps with 3 wires coming out of it... shake it a little to see if the rpm goes down. If so, it's time to replace it.

theres no wires coming outta my thorttle body do u mean the sensor in the left part of my intake ? post a pic please

The TPS is on the front side of the TB. Its a little black plastic thingie, it sits at an angle and there are 2 screws holding it in.
