Just wondering.. because I probably need a new clutch in 20,000 miles or so.

Hyundai dealer is probably the best place to do it righT?

It's a lot cheaper to do it yourself, & not that hard. I think there's a DIY for changing the clutch on here. If you need to take it to a shop to get done, any shop would be able to do it and the dealer would prolly charge the most.

I got mine at the dealership only because it was the lesser of two evils..there's not much help over where I live. If you don't have the know-how or know someone/place that can do it or trust, then you might have to take it to the dealer..hopefully you'll have more options then I did..

Probably around 300 dollars or so. It really isn't that hard to do it yourself, just time consuming.

$620 for the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel (VHR)
$65 for a new bearing
$30 for new tranny oil
~$120 in tools I needed that I didn't have (bigger jack and jackstands, breaker bar, 32mm socket, 12point 17mm socket, can't remember what else)

I called the different Hyundai dealerships around Phoenix, best price to install was about $400 if I provided all the parts. I saved that installing myself, minus the price of tools that I get to keep wink1.gif

I finished everything over 2 days, about (not a morning person wink1.gif ) 6 hours each day I think, without ever having replaced a clutch. Also, I had to make a few trips to autozone to get some tools. The hardest parts where seperating the tie rods and putting the tranny back on (I had no tranny lift), the starter was also a bit of a pain to get to. Most everything else was unbolting stuff. The DIY covers most of it, the one important thing it leaves out is unbolting the lever on top of the tranny to be able to pull the tranny off.

If you plan on doing it yourself, make sure you read everything twice, make sure you get all the parts and the right parts, etc. Since you have 20k miles to go, you should have plenty of time to educate yourself and get everything you need if that's the route you go. If it seems daunting, there is no shame in taking it to a shop to have it installed werd.gif

Its not too hard... I would compare it to swapping out your intake manifold or installing a basic turbo kit... probably would take several hours to do.

Dang guys.. have you ever thought about people who don't have a Garage or live in a Trailer park that Prohibits the work on cars?

you can find the Exedy OEM clutch on eBay. It costs around $100, I recomend it, it's smoother than the stock clutch, and has a better pressure plate. And as far as installation, the DIY is good, and also keep in mind webtech incase you have any problems.
