How to know what engine is installed in car?

2.0 and 1.8 differs only by internals (different stoke, intake cam).

honestly, I wish I knew. I found a couple of Elantra's in the yard I sometimes frequent and wanted to see about taking the ECU off of one of them.. but I could not tell them apart.

if the vehicle has the original hood, there should be a sticker on the underside of it.... it will say it SOMEWHERE on there.

also, you can tell from the VIN number

looking at the VIN, locate the 8th digit. if it is an M you have a 1.8 (1796cc). if it is an F you have a 2.0 (1975cc).

Shouldn't the Spark Plug Cover say 2.0? Or 1.8?
