Default Help me read the plugs

Hey guys it's me AGAIN

I have some problems these days with smoke coming from my exhaust and also found out that I loose oil ! So a few words for my tib: I had blown head gasket and was burning coolant, but everything was repaired and my spark plugs were like this one

As I know this is how a normal spark plug should look like. The problems started as I changed my clutch and oil ( done at the same day ). The clutch is ceramic 6 puck so after the install I'm driving like a granny, changing gears at 3000rpm max. One day I noticed that when I step on the gas and pass 3000rpm there is some white smoke, but I wasn't sure if I'm burning oil , cause it was a week or so after it was changed ! I don't loose coolant that's 110%, but today I found out that I'm loosing oil. The engine bay is clean as f*ck, not even a drop. The exhaust is all black, but it's not hard to clean it. I mean I can clean it only with some wet towel. I noticed that there is some oil around the oil pan tip ( I'm not sure if that's the right word ) I removed the oil around it, drove a little bit and after that there were oil again. So I tried to screw it a little more and no oil for now 2-3 hours after that.

I decided to change my plugs, the once that I was using till today BKR5E and the new once BKR7E ( I have nitrous kit ).

That's my old plugs:

cyl 1

cyl 2

cyl 3

cyl 4

As you can see 1,4 are not working great, but 2-3 are very good.

Here are the new once after some 20miles of driving

No pic of cyl 1

cyl 2

cyl 3

cyl 4

I don't think they look like I'm burning oil, more like pig rich air/fuel mixtrure.

Something else that I think I should mention is that till today my PCV valve tube that is connected to the intake manifold was disconnected and the IM was tapped. I connected it again .

Please, tell me what do you think ? I hope it's the mixture, cause Apexi Neo it's already ordered !

By the way i think the car is working fine. Idle is ok, acceleration is ok, when I was driving downhill I shifted from 5-3 gear and the car put it's front down and the speedo went from 55 to 35 miles.

Any advice would help

Cylinder 4 isn't looking to good. Change your plug wires and if you haven't changed your ignition coil for awhile then I would do that and see if your problem goes away.

I hope you're right

Tomorrow I'll recieve my PCV valve, so I'll change it and will clean my PCV oil drain. Found this very useful DIY https://www.hyundaiaftermarket.org/f...-pcv-oil-drain

Something else for the cyl 4, there was oil coming in between the plug tube and the gasket , so I sealed it with silicone the same one I use for the valve cover. Could it be that the wire is not giving good contact to the plug? But why I'm loosing oil?

Checked the PCV valve today and it's sucking air !

Started the car, let it idle for a min and than I rev it up to 2500-3000, the result was mixture of wet drops and black "things". Also a little smoke, but it's grey/white not bluish...

After I install the new PCV valve and clean the oil drain, I'll drive again for around 20-30miles, check the plugs and if the result is the same I'll definitely take your advice and change the wires( mine are 2 years old ) I've never changed the ignition coil

Thanx for the help bro

Since you have no pic of cylinder 1 in the second set of pics, does it look like cylinder 4? I would say take a look at diagnosing your coil packs. If I remember right when Damon helped me with my standalone, cylinders 1 and 4 fire, then cylinders 2 and 3 fire. Seems like you have lots of carbon buildup in 1 and 4, so I would suspect either ignition coil, or more nasty, the built in ignitor in the ecu is starting to go out on that bank of cylinders.

Yep, it looks like cyl 4. So tomorrow I'll buy ignition coil. It's this thing , right? http://www.euro07.bg/catalog/image.php?id=42429

Hopefully this will solve my problem, but what do you think of my oil loss? At least from my plugs it doesn't look like I'm burning oil ...

Thank you guys, really helpful tips AS ALWAYS

Before you start buying parts, maybe someone can chime in on diagnosing your coils. I know there is a process but it escapes me right now. I would try to diagnose them first before spending money on parts you may not need.

The resistance between the primary circuits (the wiring connector) should be 0.87 ohms

The resistance between the secondary circuits 1&4 and 2&3, should be 13.5k ohms

Those values can have 15% positive or negative variance in them.

So report from today:

Changed the PCV valve

Cleaned the PCV oil drain ( that thing was dirty as f*ck )

I diagnosed the ignition coils:

Cylinder 1,4 - 11.45

Cylinder 2,3 - 11.55 and that was after I let the car cool down for a couple of mins. Before that, when it was hot the results were:

1,4 - 11.28

2,3 - 11.38

I'm not sure which result should I take , but I'm right on the edge !

13.5k ohms - 15% = 11.475

I can't decide if the coils are the problem...

I'll drive the car tomorrow, check on the spark plugs again and see if there is any difference...

sounds odd because the way they fire.. 1,4 results should be more different from 2,3 to explain that and wouldn't quite make sense to just have issues with plug wires for 1,4..

can you swap the 2,3 plug wires with 1,4 or are they not long enough..

if the plugs switch the way they look then you can narrow down what your issue would be.

It's really odd ! I was also expecting to see very different numbers, but...

The plug wires are not long enough to swap cyl 1, but I can swap 3 and 4, cause 4 is the biggest problem.

I'll try all the "tricks" , but if there is no success maybe I have to face my worst fears...

Wish me luck
