on my car (similar filter to the tibby one)
the 14mm fitting on the bottom has beed crosstreaded straight at the factory...
even if it wasn't stuck in rust it was a pain to remove,

here's the solution i came up with
remove the upper hose, remove the screw holding the filter to the bracket,
use a "crow foot wrench"

with a 1` extension and a ratchet, then a 19mm on the bottom "nut" of the filter ,that way i had enough leverage to break it loose,
when you're re-installing it put some antiseize on the fiting and the tube so rust won't be a problem anymore

my fuel filter is #(*@#($*%(#* stubburn!!!

damnnn.. it's hard to get a good handle on the wrenches such a tight spot.. and it wont even budge..
i dunno how you guys did it but damn this ones not going anywhere.. its possible that my filter is still the original one and i have freakin 120 KM's on it.. it must be rusted solid there..

Consider yourself lucky. I waited until about the same time (75000 miles) and ended up twisting the fuel line apart. I had to use a pipe cutter and put in a high pressure fuel line to connect the two ends. I could not get the old fuel filter off the bottom nut without a vice and a 14mm box wrench. Do not be impatient or you will create more problems than solutions. Good luck.

try spraying a lot of WD40 in the evening and try to unscrew the filter in the morning.

but be careful.

^^^ Damn that is a LONG time.

I just did mine a few days ago in about 45 minutes. I was sweating my ass off, lol (it was like 90 degrees out and 90% humidity).

For me I used a 19mm open ended wrench on the filter side of the bottom fitting, the brake line wrench is too thick, doesn't allow enough contact for the 9/16" brake line wrench on the fuel line side of the fitting.

It took me a few tries, but I eventually got it to break loose with no major problems.

And oh yeah I sprayed a good bit of PB Blaster on it before I did the job.

^ You sicken me! wink1.gif

Mine took two days. Maybe 6 hours actual work. Had to drill out a broken bolt. Next time I will be sure to buy either articulating or crows foot wrenches first.

I 2nd that PB blast is better than WD-40 for this job about 15 min and had it all done. One thing tho when tightning the bottem fuel line make sure the top bolt hole lines up and it can be a 10 min job instead
