free flow cat
I have a crush bent 2.5 inch cat back exhaust that a muffler shop did for me a couple of years ago. i want to replace the cat on the car with a more performance free flowing unit. i thought about just gutting it or hammering a pipe through it but i know thats not good. what recommendations do you all have for a performance cat that wont get me in trouble with inspections?

Haha, good option for the no cat cats.
Another vote for CarSound cats (or Magnaflow, who makes CarSound cats) if you want an actual cat. I've owned 2 and been pleased with them.

Don't get a fake one, get a real cat.. or your exhaust will smell like crap, esp. if you ever park indoors (and you will inhale a lot of crap).
Magnaflows are good, I have a #33106 model on my tib (2.5") and it works ok with no CEL most of the time (it came up once or twice but i cleaned it and didn't come back for a while). Exhaust still smells a bit worse than stock though.

^ Damn, I should have gotten your local guy instead of that AEM wideband gauge on my dash, apparently he knows better tongue.gif
Also the FIC is a piggyback so the map is only relevant for boost (N/A region is just rescaled based on injector size).
And finally, even if the map was rich, the ECU rescales trims (using front O2 sensor) until AFR is around 14.7 at low-mid throttle.
