Default Forgeries

I'm looking for a listing of all the Beta-specific options for forged (as opposed to cast) engine internals...mainly rods and pistons, but if there are other developments out there, please list those, as well.

Last I searched the boards, Crower was the only place making rods. The list of places for pistons was Endyn, HVe (but I didn't a listing on their site), RPW, and HKS. Anyone know if these are still valid options? What new options are there?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

Ask and you shall recieve Go here and click on engine performance. They have forged pistons but they cost 1,700,000 wons. I think that is the Korean money. Also they have cams with a 264 duration is this good? And are they worth getting? B/c they run 900,000 wons.

Here's the link HKS

Just did the exhance rate for the cams it's 689.71 and for the pistons it's 1,302.78 eek.gif. Man are those cams worth 700 dollars. And what about the pistons for that matter.

For Rods, Crower is the only one I know of, but I know there are more available in Korea.

For Pistions, HKS, Arias, JE, and many korean makes. Red's pistions, and the units I will be ordering are from Ross.

Random has it...

Rods = Crower, end of story. I don't think anyone else makes better rods, except for maybe Eagle I-Beams. Still, the Eagles are primarily designed for high-revving engines, and since the BETA turns into a Hyundai Hand Grenade over 8K RPM's, Eagle wouldn't be much use anyway. Price is $675 for a set of four.

Piston sources are HKS, Arias, JE and Ross. Right now, the Arias and Ross pistons are the same basic cost (around $550 for pistons, pins, spiralocks and rings) JE is the next expensive, they wanted like $750 per set. Finally HKS comes in dead last with better than a $1000 pricetag for the set.

You can also go to HVE and RPW, but with the above-mentioned companies already here in North America, it would be much easier to just go there.

Crower needs about 6 weeks to build a set of Tiburon/Elantra 2.0L rods; Ross needed 2 weeks to build a set of pistons.

The Eagle ESP rods are of a chinese steel. Probe Industries and Cunningham make rods. If you want a light weight rod that has great shock absorbtion, get a good aluminum rod from GRP or Bill Miller. With aluminum rods you have to keep the pin lubed, so it will have to be a juiced rod and keep the oil cool. A guy I know that works for GRP has a 100,000 miles on a set in his daily driver.
