I have seen aluminum flywheels break on many cars that do not have tremendous power, such as an RSX Type-S with only a cold air intake and exhaust. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone who can lighten a stock flywheel or a company who already offers OEM flywheels that are lightened.
I asking this because I know a guy who has an BMW M3.... after he put a lightened flywheel, he loos 1 second of his E/T. He thinks it happened because thats because the car REV UP to fast without putting that power to the road....
So I'm thinking on lightened a little... but I don't know how much...

Your right... ive seen horror pictures of a couple of 4g63s..
Luckly we have not had any problems with broken flywheels. Stock or 300whp+...
The fidanza weighed about 8-9lbs from what i remember... The stocker was 16lbs if i remember right...

No reason to lose E/T with a lightened flywheel... he just can't drive. Rev up too fast without putting the power to the road? LOL lol.gif
Like I've said many times, it just takes some getting used to a lightened flywheel/stronger clutch set up. The Tib was made for economy and ease to drive, not scrounging HP out of the engine at the expense of drivability.

BMWs along with most eurpoan cars use dual mass flywheels that dampen the vibrations of the engine from the transmission and the body of the car. While great for noise/vibration/ and harshness, they such for all out performance.
As for your friend losing ET due to a lighter flywheel. He needs to learn to drive it. He is either overrevving and spinning the wheels, or he is giving too much clutch and not enough throttle and bogging.
