I'm so fed up with this exhaust leakage. There has been exhaust leaking out of this flange. It's unhealthy, I cannot stand it!

I bought a copper gasket for my Maintec GT header from summit to replace my blown gasket. Nothing helped. I've tightened the screws as much as I can. Turn on the car, and exhaust comes out of this like a blow dryer.

As I learned once upon a time replacing a thermostat: sometimes torquing it all the way down is a bad idea.

My recommendation: get a new gasket, spray it down with some Copper Spray, install it, and don't torque it down too far, just enough to make it snug. See what happens. If it's not a bad gasket, then you've got a mechanical failure somewhere. Busted header, busted flexpipe, or a warped mating surface.

Yeah, get those checked, then replace the gasket, and replace the SCREWS with BOLTS AND NUTS.

alright, thanks all. i urge you to check yours as well. it didn't look like there was a leak, but when i put my finger near the flange you can feel the exhaust coming out. looks like i have to grind a small portion of the flange but still i just don't know why it would do this though.

Yep, I definitely see the problem there. Gotta grind that down ASAP.

ETA: That's one pissed off baby giving us all the finger.

alright, so i put in these two pieces of cut pipe so the exhaust goes straight through. didn't work, so i took my grinder and shed some bumps off the flange. seemed to work but i wasn't taking chances, so then i took my copper sealer and caked up the circles around both sides of the flange. tightened it up and nothing comes out.

honestly don't know what the hell the problem was. with my luck, i wonder how long the sealant will last.
