Well since that's kinda what they do, and there is a (small) market already expressing interest maybe they still will.

You could if you like, but no worries otherwise.

I think I just need to realize the beta2 cvvt is just going to need everything custom or one off. Just like the valves. And I need to stop assuming beta2 means with cvvt.

Good luck, I hope they come through for you and other beta builder's.

Not aware of any beta II cvvt parts of that nature. Reko, do you care if I use your picture of the rside spocket for reference to fidanza?

Great, thanks. I'll post more info up when I get it.

What I'll do is tomorrow I'll put up an email address for Fidanza in which people can send them an email stating that they have interest in the sprocket. This will help push the project along.

I dont see the need to put an adjustable sprocket on a VVT cam system anyhow, does that not defeat the purpose? When we compare Beta 1 to Beta 2 in the same sentence it is, or I assumed was in direct relation to both not having VVT. Any cylinder head with VVT is normally mentioned as having such and unfortunately assuming EITHER way is incorrect unfortunately.

So will this or any sprocket from a BETA 1 cam (which does not have VVT) fit on to a BETA 2 cam "of same or equal value"? Yes, absolutely they will.

Thanks for chiming in slow2k2! As for the Fidanza part, anyone who is interested please send an email to sales@fidanza.com stating that you are interested in the Hyundai adjustable intake cam sprocket. This will help move the project along with showing them how many people may or may not be interested.

If anyone wants to cross post or share this over to nt.com or maybe elantraxd.com, please do so! I'm trying to benefit the Hyundai community here so every bit will absolutely help.

Thanks!

I guess the way I look at it is the beta2 cvvt was made for a longer period of time and therefore more prevalent than the non-cvvt version, but whatever it no longer matters. Given the other differences between the beta's I should have known better than to make any assumptions.

I want an adjustable gear because sometimes given belt/chain stretch, variances in machining or holding fixtures, factory markings and changes that may occur during regrinding the designed lobe center angle specified on the card vs. the degreed lobe center angle on the engine may not match and be off by a few degree. An Adjustable gear could be used to correct such a situation.

Even though the cvvt system is phasing the intake cam, with an adjustable intake cam gear I can change the starting point from which it begins and add or subtract a small amount of maximum valve overlap. This may also be used to avoid valve to piston interferences at max advance vs. making an insert for inside the cam phaser to limit maximum advance.

I will let fidanza know my interest in having a cvvt one made, if it happens great. If not, I'll deal with it. If they decide to cnc them from billet I don't think it would be overly complicated to scale the design down to fit the cvvt cam.

Jon, did you have the beta II cvvt head? The beta II and II cvvt have different sized cam sprockets. As slow2k2 has stated, he put the same rside on both beta I and II non-cvvt cams.
