Experiences with Colt Cams and others?
Can anybody tell me the experiences you have had with these cams and other regrind cams for the beta engine. How did the engine react? Power gains? ETC

I can't answer your specific question, but I can tell you that you need to always check the cam regrinds for exactness and durability. I'm not 100% sure if it was Colt, but in the Z scene, we've seen several cams that had the welds flake off, and the tolerances were subpar.
Break out the micrometer to check the lobes, and look under your valve cover periodically for wear.

I did a camshaft regrind for a couple of months ago, for my 97 tiburon.. quite simular to the colt cams profile, although a bit moe aggressive. I definitively notice the gains, however, ECU upgrade is needed to get the full potential from it. Therefor I'm working on a MS2 standalone for my car.
Listen to the idle I got:
<embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid1100.photobucket.com%2Falbums %2Fg403%2Fsonique90%2F116.mp4">
With colt cams, 4-2-1 headers and megasquirt, KFX performance managed to get 156.1whp and 139.9 tq. from a beta1..

juanra, what other mods did you see on the 160+ cars without the cams?
sonique, thanks for the feedback!
i'm a noob, so more questions, sorry
do the Colt cams and the 1.8 cams perform the same? what's recommended for low-mid / useable gains? and lastly, is it required to swap the 1.8ECU with the 2.0ECU when running 1.8 cams? thanks for the help!

No.. the 1.8 cam is just an intake cam (if used on the beta engine), while colt regrind is both intake and exhaust. Also, the 1.8 profile is not that much different from the original. If I've been told right, it was used in the Hyundai F2 evolution RD coupe. The 1.8 cam does not require any ECU mods, but I don't think you will notice the gains much by just changing this cam. (BTW.. I don't know much about the 1.8l engine used in the US)
This is my profile vs the original profile.. as you can see, it's quite different
Original BETA 1 Shafts
Inlet:
Duration: 238 degrees
Lift: 8mm
Exhaust:
Duration: 250 degrees
Lift: 9mm
My regrind (had to use lash caps):
Inlet:
Duration: 275 degrees
Lift: 10.1mm
Exhaust
Duration: 275 degrees
Lift: 10.1mm
and these are the specs for the colt camshafts: " 268 with 340 lift. the secondary lobe on the intake is 264 with 335 lift. the exhaust is straight up 264 with 335 lift."

dude, that's actually a decent idle for 275/275 cams. how did they affect your power curve? is the car enjoyable to drive?
