heh.. you could flush your engine like I did... forget to tighten down the oil drain plug after changing it... five miles down the road the plug fell out and I looked like a ww2 fighter getting shot down.. thankfully there was nobody behind me on the highway at the time or they would have gotten covered in about five quarts of oil

next oil change throw in some B12 chemtool, let the engine idle for 5 minutes, then immediately drain all the oil and put in the new oil

Put it in fresh oil, or your old oil? Old I'm guessing. I've never done an engine flush before or messed with any of those additive products. There's a lot of treatment brands available. I'm curious since I'm now hearing a ticking sound that changes speed based on rpm. I was thinking maybe it's a gasket on the exhaust, but I haven't found a leak. I've heard it since I changed my oil to Mobil 1 and a Fram Tough Guard filter.

if the noise has not gone away by now.. I am afraid you might need new lifters.. they are not too hard to replace.. but you do need to pull the cams... good time to install the 1.8 intake cam if that was on your agenda at all.

i am assuming you are talking about using a 1.8l cam in a 2.0l engine. what would you gain by doing that? has any one swapped out their hla for solid? i have been thinking about doing that to get ride of the ticking sound as we always seem to have to run a quarter quart over the full line to get the tick to quiet down.

I see you are new here, do some searching on the 1.8L Intake Cam, it's a OEM performance upgrade.
