Going to be turboing soon.

Engine has 149k miles on it.

Need to either get a new engine, or rebuild the current one.

I have a 1.8l right now, would be swapping to a 2.0l engine.

Is this a plug and play swap?

Or will i have to get all of the sesnors and stuff from the 2.0 engine?

Im guessing i will need to get an 2.0l ECU to go with the motor.

Is there anything else i can expect to be a big hassle when i go to do the swap?

Nope, won't need the 2.0 ECU. Remember everyone going to 1.8 ECU's for the timing advance and slightly less rich fuel mixture (supposedly)? They work fine with the 2.0, and since the ECU works, so should all the sensors and everything.

Course you'll need some sort of device if the 1.8 ECU actually does run leaner \ more timing.

Was never really cleared up HOW, if it did actually make more power. Course if it does, it should be through either timing or fuel mixture. The Emanage should cover that easily since it didn't make that much power over stock with the 1.8. Either way, according to Redz and others, the 1.8ECU made the car more responsive, which probably means it has a better powerband in some way.

No dyno was ever done however.

i thought if you were FI the 1.8 ecu and/or cam would cause problems if you actually had the 2.0 motor?

I know the cam won't, granted its safer to run a lower duration cam but you can run big lumpy cams on a turbo setup, just harder to tune right and get it working properly.

As for the ECU, the changes it makes aren't enough to overcome the powers of the Emanage or any piggyback for that matter IMO.

it would make sense that the 1.8L ECU could be a problem due to the fact that there is less gas. Could lean it out. But if he is going to go piggyback, it should be fine. Standalone would be better of course, but prob less reliable.
