I have a 2000 mod Hyundai Coupe 1.6fx. same as tiburon in usa ..just another name.

the enginecode are 4G61 .1599CC .84kw/116hp . but are this engine a beta 1? someone a kspec told me that i had the alpha engine .same as in elantra . but the alåha looks different . mine looks just like the beta2 engines. can somone find out what kind of engine i have from this number: KMHJG31RPYU152863

please let me know.

I'm almost positive you have a beta1 engine.

There is a member here (braker) who has the same setup as you.

I think the alpha engine is a single cam, yours is dual cam right?

accents are the only recent model hyundai to come with the alpha, all others (elantra's + 4cyl tibbies) are various beta's

Yours is a 1.6L beta

^ Excel/Pony, Scoupe & Getz also had/have the Alpha engine.


Zellus, did you say KMHJG31RPYU152863? If so, you have a Beta1 engine.

You're very lucky though because had you written KMHJG31RPYU152862, your car would have the hamster-powered Omega motor in it.

Was it a Beta in the Excels with twin cam? I thought they were still Alpha's.
