Why would it be out of production/who told you that?!! That stuff works like the bomb! You'd think you had a brand new engine bay after you use it!
I did mine in the local car wash bay, too, and sprayed on the second can after I dried off the car.

I did my engine compartment with that CD2 engine detail kit and its the BEST. Here is a picture:
This engine is 2 years old.
The hotplate has some rust on it around the bolts. Once I get more time, I ll try and clean that better. And the block has some stuff on it too...I have to get a steal brush and clean that off. I also heard Simple Green works well on degreasing some of that, so I went out to Home Depot and bought that. I ll give that a shot next time I wash my car.

I worked at a car wash and detail shop for three years, and for the most part everyone got it. Be carful with silicone dress sprays though, if the vapors go int the engine, they can ruin the O2 sensor and mess up your cat so be sure the stuff sits for a while before you run it. Also make sure you belts dont get too slippery or the car will have problems. Last, just becareful with pressure hoses, they can rip wires and cut hoses if you get too close. cover up distributer caps and dont spray too hard near the plugs and you should end up with a pretty engine.

I have a painted HOT plate and plug cover and the CD2 kit did not do anything to the paint.
Amazing stuff. Makes the bay look new in almost no time.
Oh, and it will leave greasy puddles under your car, so do it at the local car wash place like Random said.
