Red, the SMT replicates that signal just fine. its cool. thanx for the info, thats all i needed (hopefully wink ). i knew that the beta operated that way just wasn't sure how many missing teeth there was on the crank sensor.

SCCA, the reason the SMT does not work on LS1s (or so i was told) is because the LS1 ECU uses the crank AND cam sensors together to do ignition management. The SMT cannot duplicate such a signal, thus it will not work with that engine. You can, however, still do fuel management on an LS1 with an SMT-5, so it is not completely useless for those cars.

Anyways, thanx again to all for the info, it is much appreciated. i can get back to work on it now.

As for the harness, i had to hard wire it into the ECM harness. don't be misled by their webpage or ads. they do not make a harness specifically for your car as i initially thought.

Let us know if there's anything else -- I wanna see how well the SMT-5 does for you. If this puppy can support it's claims, then we likely have a much better alternative to the usual S-AFC and the rare ITC combination.

It's not as fancy as the SAFC with the illuminated face. rolleyes.gif But, you can hook it up to a laptop and udjust the reading while you drive, or even slam it down on the floor when it tells you "danger to manifold" and tell it to shut up. tongue.gif

Well, even if it doesn't LOOK as fancy, I'm still interested in how it performs. The unit is just a bit cheaper than the digital S-AFC, but (theoretically) has better functionality PLUS has better-than S-ITC features as well.

If the features hold true, it could be a much better alternative to the AFC and ITC installs.

Personally, I like it because it doesn't have to be mounted in the ****pit. It should have timing control and a window switch for nitrous too. Those options alone should save you a couple hundred. For a little more, you can get the standalone and use it as a piggyback, so that you will have a progressive controller AND a window switch saving lots of hundreds of dollars. Cha-ching. tongue.gif

The boards won't let me say c.o.c.k.p.i.t rolleyes.gif tongue.gif
