What the hell is a con rod and why would I want an aftermarket one?

Well depending on if you just B.S.ing or not, a con rod, better know as a connecting rod is the part that connects to the piston in the engine. I don't know why you would want to buy a performance con rod unless you're planning on putting some additional power into a car engine that would stress the engine. Hope this helps... Random could prolly go into more detail but that's just a quickie.

seriously, kore has some new products up, including balistic replacement cast pistons, copper gaskets, and these connector rods. I'm just wondering what they will help, how hard are these installs, and are they worth it? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

A connecting rod is what attaches the piston to the crank. A performance connecting is able to handle more load than say a factory rod.

As Kidd Supreme and HRD already stated.

The Connecting Rod is used to attach the pistion to the Crank.

They do not "help" HP or "make" HP, unless you alter the design from stock (longer or shorter). They are usually only replaced for one reason. Strength.

The stock tibby con rods are good to about 250-300 WHP. Above that figure, and replacement, stronger connecting rods should be used.
