Simply put >> My cltch makes a squeekie door hing sound when its really cold outside, but only for a couple minutes. A friend of mine says that it's either a warn clutch (please say it's not!!!) or the clutch just needs a little grease. I would like to give it a little grease befor I go spending who-knows-how-much on a new clutch.

Any suggestions?

A clutch is only like $150+ if you DIY. Its not as bad as you think.

As for your question, I have no clue

they did a materials change on the fork bushings. the old ones were made out of aluminum, the new ones steel. If you're under warranty, dealer will take care of it for free.

If you're smart, you'll buy a clutch on EBAY for $90 and have them toss that fuxor in there while they have the whole thing open anyways.

NOTE
These new bushings may be used to reduce a "squeak" or "squawk" noise in vehicles produced before 11/17/01 (Transmission #963248) using the following procedure.


PROCEDURE:
  1. Confirm that the vehicle was produced before 11/17/01.
  1. Confirm the "squeak" or "squawk" noise in the vehicle as follows:

    1. Open the vehicle hood with the engine off

    1. Have someone operate the clutch pedal

    1. Listen for the noise in the top bushing area
  1. Replace the upper and lower bushings with the bushings identified with the >N66<
    mark as shown in the "PARTS INFORMATION"
    on page 1 of this TSB. Follow the bushing replacement procedure outlined in the appropriate shop manuals.


NOTE
All Hyundai parts distribution centers have new bushings in stock.

Do you really think replacing the bushings is what I should do? Should I just upgrade the bushings?

BTW >> My tibby is a 99 and the only warrenty I have is with crysler (the dealership I bought her from) nd it includes the tranny but not the clutch. (if that matters, i don't know.)

you're not replacing the clutch which is a expendable item, you're replacing the clutch release fork bushings which is part of the power train.

hey, sound like the exact same problem I'm facing...

now, looking at the TSB thread, it seems that I need to open up the whole tranny...

any alternatives to replacing the bushings without opening the whole tranny?

you can douse the top of the thing with lube until it reaches the upper fork bushing, but i don't think it will reach the lower one.
