If the IAT is hanging loose in the engine compartment like his is, I can see it getting pretty nasty. Usually it lives in filtered air, so never gets too dirty. With it hanging out in the open, ANYTHING can come in contact with it, perhaps even enough to ruin it.

I am still thinking you have a bad cat.. it is a shame yours is welded to the exhaust, otherwise I would suggest unhooking it and seeing if you still have a problem or not.

Do me a favor. Start it up and take the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator.

This is sounding like what i had with the accent.

Redzman- I pm'd abqelantra and asked him if he ever started any threads on his ecu wire problem and he said, No he never did. I did what you asked and there is no info to begin with.

Mad- machine- i was thinking the cat, but a few people have said if its clogged, it would pretty much run like crap ALL the time. I might have to cut the cat out and bust the insides ou and put it back on.

Ericy321- What exactly would hapen with the car started and i take off the vacuum line off the fuel regulator. Car is working good now for short drives, just scared of it stalling again.

Someone told me to throw you a bone in here, so I will.

It was MY car when the problem happened, so it was MY thread. ABQElantra posted in there. I don't think I ever said he started the thread.

Here's the link to my problem, and all of the info.

Here's where he posted it.

On my accent the FPR was shot and was letting fuel through the vacuum line to the intake manifold causing it to run rich as hell and try to stall out. If you take a vacuum off nothing really happens. If its shot though fuel will come out that hole. I drove the accent for a couple days waiting for a new fpr with it just capped off. it doesnt matter to much because of our return system. Definately shouldnt drive like that forever though.

I noticed this sensor? not plugged into anything and was wondering if anyone knows what it is.

Also, for the intake coupler, would I need 2.5'' straight or 2.5'' to 3''? The car is across town in my dads garage, so I cant really measure the maf right now.

I believe that plugs into the front-side of the engine as you look at it from opening the hood. right next to the other sensor. It looks familiar. I doubt it's the CKP sensor.

You really need an intake if you dont have one. That MAF shouldnt be like that as well as the IAT. DId you try the FPR?

Ericy321- I know I need an intake and IAT in correct place. The car is parked and not being driven. Do you know what the circled thing is? Im checking the FPR this weekend. Was your accent doing the same thing? Running fine and then stalling and not restarting?

Wait, how could you not know what that is?

LOL

Let's see, it looks a bit like the temp sending connector, but you've got that connected in the picture. It looks like it COULD be the other one next to the temperature sender, but that's got a connector on it too. You've got a 1997, and let me guess, an automatic?

Yup, I know what it is.

It's the mysterious connector from the Rev A's that goes to the TB.
