I just put in my new Rside Basic short shifter and 1-5 gears are smooth but it won't even go over and down for reverse, it just drops into fourth gear. Can anyone help???? I think I might need reverse sometime in my life instead of rolling it back in neutral?!??!?!?!??!

Hah. Did you cut your baseplate?

Often, to go into reverse, you may need to put it in neutral, let out the clutch, and then clutch in and to reverse.

I had the same problem when I first installed it mine. It just takes a lot more force for the first couple times to get it in reverse until evertthing settles in nicely. OR you may have installed it wrong. Also you might need to adjust the cables. Look at REDZ thread on Shifter show down, I have pics there of the RSB.

Might be your baseplate aswell.

First try the obvious..Put it into first, drive forward just a bit, then double clutch into reverse (put it in neutral, let off clutch, then clutch into reverse)

Can you get me a pic of yours in reverse cuz you didn't have a pic for that on Reds Shifter Showdown thread, and how can I adjust the cables if I need to do that????

Oh man, I might have to do that next week. I'm going to be real busy this week. I adjusted the cables exactly as it says on webtech.

Take the manual surround off and have a look to see where you might have a problem. If its hitting anything etc. If not try using a little bit of force.

I hope that before you go messing with your cables and cutting your baseplate that this isn't just the classic "first then reverse" thing that happens when you install a short throw shifter.
