My experience with a stock tranny with boost was you HAVE TO change the stock clutch unless you can resist the boost gremlins and drive like a white man until you upgrade. Unless you are only boosting like 5psi or something that may work.

To my knowledge there is no one that makes a full replacement tranny for our cars. The only gear replacements I have ever seen were the AXIS gear set which I think you can get through real engineering.

i am a quaife dealer so if anyone wants a quaife lsd then i can get it for you around $1000 and it comes with a life time waranty. it is by far the best lsd made for our cars, the rally guys use them and the few people that i have sold them to for hyundai, they have bragged about them alot.

I didn't realize that we could still get Quaife LSDs since speedmotion went under, (which is where I bought mine) Are they still modded Mitsu units with the pinion gears flipped?? I have had mine installed for several months now and I LOVE IT!! laugh.gif

Yes, we can still get them. Talk to DJalkyd here in the forums.

Kspec.com also has the Maintec LSD's.

that one i wouldnt know. i do know the quaife may be a little more expensive and i would imagine if your not going full race then the manitech would probably be the way to go.

not to dog out anything but i know that one comes from korea and i wouldnt know if they carry warranties. the quaife has a lifetime warranty and they are here in the states so for any problems i would imagine a quicker response to problems.

k-spec totally rocks and is my favorite hyundai shopping place so i am sure david and redz would have all the info on that.

as for the quaife and the flipped pinion gear. there is no reason to flip it or have anything modded on the quaife. i installed mine and i did not have to do anything other than take out the stock diff, put the pinion on the quaife and then bolt everything back together. the part number is H8B1 and they made like 150 more of them due to how many i have sold. they are from the AWD mitsu but quaife has marked them for hyundai now. some people may need shims for the install and some dont, i did'nt and a few others did'nt but its better to have them on hand just in case.

dj, its very nice to know that you can help us with gettin a LSD, and the price is right too.

What about axels? how much would it cost to buy set of used ones and send them out so I wouldn't sit w/out my car for weeks?

the best thing to do on that is go to a junk yard for the axles and then get with the drive shaft shop they have a week turn around time.

http://www.driveshaftshop.com/

they can beef up the axles to handle 450whp for $700

or try gator axle here in orlando. talk to Glen, he is the owner. i think he is a little cheaper but i am not sure of the turn around time. his can also handle 400-450whp
