Default this blows

Bought a 2.0 a few months ago. And just got done with the swap yesterday into my 99 accent... it fired right up. But it ticks like hell and now theres something up with the cooling system. And when I turn the car off I here a sucking/bubbling noice coming from the thermostat area. And that lower hose is not getting hot at all its like if no water is going trough it. I got a new thermostat and pump so can cheak away afew things and I know the radiator is good.

If anyone can think of anything that helps.

sounds like there might be an air lock in the cooling system. How much coolant/water did it take?

ticking? How loud? Are you running a Hyundai OEM oil filter?

^ this. Burp the cooling system, squeeze the hoses till no more bubbles come out the radiator cap.

Yes burp the system. run the car with the radiator cap off for a while and add fluid as it runs untill it stops bubbling. Beta motors tick a oem oil filter will help, it was the first start up gotta let oil get to where it needs to go and it should quite down.

Duh, me I didn't even think about it being the first start in a long time.

Specific guidance from Hyundai for the 2.0 Beta engine with hydraulic valve lash adjusters (HLA) ticking like there's no tomorrow *from a cold start* is: give it a minute. If the oil system was DRY it may take several minutes. If you have to drive, keep engine speed under 3K RPM, and if you don't then just let it idle. The noise should be gone within 15 minutes, or you should have used a Hyundai oil filter (or installed new HLAs).

Or take apart and clean out the HLAs.

Ok well today I drove it and had a big mess of problems. First I think there's a short in the wiring I don't understand what could have cause it, I have no power inside the car at all only the cluster lights up. And my fan isn't coming on so I been doing it manually.

2nd. I think I fixed the cooling system today by the fan coming on. 3rd Im using a dsm started with my elantra trans and I've been here noices that sound like somethings is moving around in the trans until I went and looked at the starter to see if it was loose and it was so I tighten it. Then it took the sound away but right after It turns over it sounds like if something is rattling in the trans.

So far this car is stressing me out completely this is my second one I've put together so I'm pretty familiar with the car. So I'm not sure what the hell is happening lol

And I did not use the oem filter. I will go get it soon I totally forgot about it /: thanks guys

Why are you using a DSM starter? I would swap it out for the correct one before diving into the problem any further.

I don't understand how a filter can quite a tick.

And does anyone have any idea why my lights inside ex cluter won't work ( radio, ceiling light, heater) and my rad fan won't come on by its self. I've cheaked fuses.

And Im in the process of what you guys said about the radiator.
