I was doing some angry driving last night and beat up on my car pretty good. I dumped the clutch at around 3500 rpms and took off. But I didn't take off as fast as I wanted to. I was kinda freaked out but didn't think anything of it. Then I shifted into second at around 5500, (remember angry driving) but I didn't go anywhere! The engine just whined out to 5000 and then I finally felt the car start to pull a tiny bit, so I let off the gas. I smelled burning clutch as I used to burn it all the time when I was learning stick with by 90 Beretta.
Anyway, I'm kinda scared cause I came to work today and shifted into second and it bogged out, and almost stalled. No good. But it didn't do it when I got into third and fourth. (didn't make it to 5th) Now I'm starting to think that it might be a tranny problem! Any suggestions?

i would look into changing your brake AND clutch fluid (both the same)and your tranny fluid, AND also look into adjusting the engagement.....
Theres a thread here about it.....but i dont remember the name.......I will look for it for you.
here ya go....luckily it was still in my email as a watched topic reply notification.

Alright I did read that before I posted, I'm thinking it's more to be a clutch issue then. It's not grinding but it's slipping, then bogging out when it catches I think.
I'm off work now so I'll go see what's going on. Thanks for the link tibwrcsbj, I appreciate it.

I know your problem man. My elantra was doing the same thing after I installed the 4g63t tranny. On the back of your clutch pedal there is a rod that goes through the firewall and goes into your master cylinder. what you have to do is loosen the nut that holds it in place and spin it so there is very little sticking out on the side where you foot is. If you get what im saying. It engages the master cylinder better. Also try to bleed your clutch. If that doesnt work then you're going to lose a bit of money more than likely.

I'll try that Dweet thanks, I honestly think I'm gonna need a new clutch but I'll give her a shot. How do you bleed a clutch? Is it much like bleeding the brakes cause I can do that!
would this be a good thing to do anyways dweet... i dont think my clutch is slipping much but im hitting the 60k mark... do u think this is something i should do as preventive maintenance?
Yes it wont hurt anything and it would only help. To answer your question about bleeding the clutch its just like how its done on the brakes. There is a bleeder valve that uses a 10mm socket just like on the brakes, it is located on the clutch slave cylinder that is mounted on the tranny.

Aha! But at the time it is not. It is driving your vehicle the way it was meant to be driven.
The easiest way to fix a car problem is drive it really really hard and fix the parts that break. As long as the parts aren't you.
