i have my battery relocated in the trunk . all wired up and done ..



i wanna know if yeah guys knows where the best place to mount the battery for weight purposes etc .



any pointers will be helpful.. i wanna do a trunk setup for shows and stuff just dont wanna do anything till i find the best place for the battery first ..

If you are serious about weight balancing, get your car weighed at all four corners. Put the battery as near as possible to the corner that is lightest.

 

Be careful not to mount it so far out that you have to cut into your hatch trim!





Also, not so far in that you can't remove your spare tire. On my LC accent, the spare tire well is offset towards the LHS of the car anyway, so there was a perfect little tray for the battery... Iunno about the elantra though.

 

Mine is on the drivers side in the trunk.

 

I put mine on the passenger side.



If you get a Lithium battery they only weigh a pound or so...........

Yeah but I got this funny hang-up where I don't like to use battery chemistries that have a failure mode of "burst into flames and act like a bomb"

So just where do you keep your cell phone when you are out and about?

 

Not in a hotass oven/car where the safe temperature for lithium based batteries is exceeded during the day while I'm at work, that's for sure. I also don't leave my li-ion or lipo camera or RC batteries in the car, either. It's a bad idea.

For those who don't know: leaving your portable electronics in your car can cause your car to burn. to. the. ground. edit: And I take it back a little bit. The batteries Red Raspberry linked above are a different chemistry (LiFe type) from the battery in your cell phone and laptop computer. They have a much higher temperature withstanding capability than LiPo types. The recommendation is still to keep them under 140ยบ though and I still don't trust them for MY car, mind you . . .
