my car is stocked out right now, so I'm wondering what to do.
I want to test this out so I can get solid numbers to show you guys, so I will.
Here's what I'm wondering though. Should I do a dyno before bolt ons, or after. Because right now I'm bone stock, so I'm getting baseline dynos. Next part going back on the car is either going to be the ECU, or the CAI. Then I'll have it dynoed again. Lots of dyno's coming soon. But the cheapest I've found an ECU for is 125 shipped, and forget that.
so let me know how to get ahold of one so I can dyno test the myth.

check your junkyards, I am sure you can find one. Redz is going to try and find some and I will check out the biggest junkyard in Indiana because it is about an hour away. I am sure you can get one for cheap.

i think you should put just the ecu on and dyno it first. that way we can have an idea of what we can expect to get to begin with. i would assume that it would give bigger gains with more mods with the 1.8 ecu then the other ecu. if you have dynoed once already with the mods you have you can put up the dyno after the mods and new ecu. see what changes happen.
this is exciting for me even though i have a 1.8 engine.

Try reading this thread next time.
1. Yes, it will STILL WORK ON ANY BETA 1 ENGINE. Yes, AUTO RD's Have a BETA 1 ENGINE.
2. Go to Webtech and look up ECM, that's what they call it. It's above and behine the fusebox in the car.
3. This proves you didn't read anything. It said, in the thread linked in the FIRST POST, that it plugs right in.
READ.

hey Redz, can you post up a DIY on how to install the ECU? I have no clue where the ECU is even located, let alone knowing how to replace one.
Yes, when I finally take the 2.0 ECU all the way out and swap them, I will. Should be in about 2 months. I got a cast on and it's hard to get around.
I just described where it's located.

is the ECU easy to get to or do I need to take the entire dash apart?
Yes, no.
It's a PITA to take out though.

Hey Redz Can I Use That Ecu With My Mods?
I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Heh heh.

Do it after the CAI, who cares about before. Really, if you don't get a CAI, you don't tune.
LOL
Chris, where did you look? I got mine for $19 on ebay, and I've seen TONS of them in Car-part.com for $25 .
All the ones that say "Call" , just call a few of them, some of them will be dirt cheap.
Also remember guys, this ECU is TUNED for the 1.8L CAM.
Imagine the gains.
