Hey guys,
I already have an SAFC-II installed... would it be worth it in your opinion to put on the 1.8 ECU and re-tune my SAFC?

Nobody is bashing Redz's idea. I just don't want to spend the money on a mod that may or may not work.
Hey, it wasnt' MY idea. It was another members here. They just wanted me to confirm that it did something, and I tell ya what, it certainly did for me.
QUOTE (hamhead)
^^^ True dat. Which is why we all wish Shaddoh was still around to give us those dynos and see where it truely made a difference, if any.
So PM him. Or AIM him.
And let me point out again, not all GOOD mods are gonna be dyno magic mods.
QUOTE (SuPaDuPa)
lastnight I reset the ecu and went for a good drive, let the car cool down and started it again. went for another drive and there was a noticable diffrence...felt like a lot more torquy as it pulled through the rpms 2500 to redline.
Word, that's what I got. I love it.

BUT my fuel milage is like a freeeken V8...all in all I am impresed at what this does for the money
You know, I noticed that I'm filling up a LOT more right now, but I think it's because I'm pushing my car MUCH harder now. My milage is about the same, but it always dips a bit in the winter here because of the oxygenated gasoline.
What a/f ratio is it showing?
QUOTE
and as far as trying the xd elantra ecu
I would NOT do that. As far as them even plugging in, I don't know, but the XD/Beta 2 or 2.5's also run a 16 bit system, unlike our 8 bit system. Could cause some MAJOR problems.
QUOTE (TibMinn)
did that happen to anyone else that did this? what are the consequences for running so rich?
Nope.
Mine isn't running really rich anymore that I can tell.
I wouldn't really bother with this if you have a SAFC I think.
As for firmware and such, there ARE DIFFERENT VERSIONS, like the REV A, and such, and even different part #'s, so yes, there are differences between some of the items in the ecus.

Nope. But if you feel the car is more "torquy", then the torque curve will be different. eyeroll.gif
When the gain can't be measured, then it's a mind-trick.

Nah, the ECU's are physically 100% the same. Only the firmware in 'em changes.

Considering the car has more than 1 govenor, no, the ecu swap will not raise the top speed. I forget where they all are but I know one is on the odometer/speedometer.

i was wondering i read on hp.com comme poeple have done the ecu swap.... but afther a while they had some problem ? it was leaning to much ? would that be true ? ..... they where saying the power was droping....
any improvement would be fun but i was wondering about the down side.... and agarwal was talking about a speed limiter a 180km/h ? is that true to ?
info is pretty much scatered around on many topic :S

I've had the 1.8L ECU in my car for like 2 years now. No problems whatsoever.
