Okay, so I've read the manual and saw what it says that we need for our Tiburons. However, I live over 125 miles away from the nearest Hyundai dealer -- AND, they won't ship me any ATF because of UPS I guess. Do we have any alternatives if I can't get the ATF stated in the manual for our vehicles? Anybody had experience in this category? Your help is appreciated.

Dude, ATF is pretty much universal. Look up the type and go get some at the local auto shop.

BTW, where the hell have you been?

Been too busy and poor to mess around here much 02.gif On the ATF -- working for a GM dealer, we have Dexron 4. However, after reading some sites it said NOT to put that in our transmissions. I take it that is not true?

I'm not sure. I know there is the GL4/ GL5 issue with the Manual tranny's synchro's, but otherwise, I don't know about the automatics. We'll find out shortly.

Please, use the add reply button at the end of the page.

Just talked to Majiktib, he's got a auto with lots of miles on it, we use Dextron III, ATF.

there might be some circumstances when you can't use reg. automatic transmission fluid but royal purple only makes one type.

Yep, Chrysler type 7176 ATF is compatible with Hyundai trannies.

Oh, and if you look at ATFs like Royal Purple or Mobil 1, usually it will say in fine print somewhere that it shouldn't be used with Chrysler transmissions (and that goes for Hyundai as well).
