Default ARP Acccent WOES

Alrighty, a bit of a dissapointing day here,

OK, My drama's - Accent G4ED 1.6L...

Factory Head bolt information...

Total length including head: 106mm
Total length of shaft and thread included: 95mm
Thread size: M10 x 1.25
Thread length: 23mm
Diameter of head: 16mm - Socket head cap screw
Cap head suits 8mm hex bit

Now the thing is... You cant possibly fit a arp nut in between the lifters, let alone a socket to do the bloody things up, so... im stuck having to use the standard head bolts again? Or am I?

3 Possible outcomes from this situation I can only see...

1) Buy a new set of OEM Head bolts
2) Pray to hell that ARP do custom head bolts that are stronger than factory and are the same sizes as the factory ones
3) Use ARP head studs, hopefully theres special nuts that the outside is completly round, and have a hex or torx inner

if anyone can hlp guide it would be great.

Cheers Ryan

I had to dremmel my head to get my socket to fit in on my tib... not too familiar with accents, can you remove the lifters and reinstall them once the head is bolted down?

you can, but if i was going to dremel anything it would be before the head got re-worked and chemical cleaned. I dont want to do that when the head is ready to go onto the block.

What size socket does one need for 10mm 12 point nuts? and i will be able to see if i can dremel it out , but then i think i might be making the lifter bore a bit thin.

Cheers Ryan

Hey man, You know i have never heard of a case here where people have lifted the heads from so much power. I have seen a buddy of mine make a head gasket leak at 18psi with OEM. Yet I am not sure how much HP your aiming for, Yet I would stay stock if possible so you dont have to grind on you head that is ready for install. Not sure how the 1.6 are to the 2.0. I upgraded to arp's cause it was easy, yours is a little diffrent. Yet if you do go OEM atleast buy a new set.

Check out this site to man, this seem like them might have your stuff
