I dont' know if there is a solenoid holding the key in place or not... I do know that my car dosn't like to release the key when the steering wheel is locked to the left or right.
Nah, it's not the wheel locking. I thought of that. I was hoping it was that easy. It's killing my battery. I'll have to disconnect the battery when I'm not working on it until I can get the fricken key out.
I never pay much attention but it only goes as far as the ACC slot onthe ignition. It won't turn over to the Lock position. I thought that is where it needed to be to pull it out. My wheels won't lock in the ACC position.

I'll do some searching on the webtech schematics for any differences between auto and manual in regards to the acc switch.
Found this on webtech... Did you do this yet? This will simulate the car always being in park. It is also the way the stock manual system is hooked up. You need to jumper the 2 wires.

I found another one, but I'm not completely sure about it. it goes to the ECM so basically it comes from the park signal and goes into the mysterious black box....

I found one more! This looks like it will cure your problems.

Thanks for the info DTN. I'll look into it to see if that was the problem. For the fix now, we just took the spring out that locks the key into that position in the column so I can take the key out anytime I want even when driving since it thinks it locks but doesn't actually move the part.
But I'm in Korea now so it'll ahve to wait till I go home to visit nmy family to look at it. But it was up and running after having to redo the axle as I started pouring gear oil all over the place. But the day I had to drive it was great. It's going to the shop for the custom center consol while I'm gone. I have to have 92tiburon make a list of all the parts laying around now to sell.

92 tiburon, get at me about that trans. and whatever else you have
Well we have a automatic tranny with low miles that ran great. Of course we have an auto pedal and the shifter cable. We have a whole engine harness. Also the mounts on the auto tranny are in great condition as we could not reuse them on the manual. I will have to check darkchyldes storage for the rest of the stuff. I can get pics also. Also have a center console as it is getting a custom one.
My location is Frederick, Md 21702. Let me know or you can email me at cruisnhard@yahoo.com. I do have a pallet to ship the tranny if needed.
