cam timing was normal... no adjustments made

ignition timing was EXTREMELY conservative.

Ive been running around with my old boost map on stock compression...

My current setup is NA with low compression... so my timing is VERY low..

The head was dropped off at the machine shop today.. they are going to inspect every inch of it. All valves are being removed. The combustion chamber will be polished...

Cyl #2 is still a mistery..
Ill be pulling the piston out to have a look see at the rings..

The shop thinks something was sucked in by cyl 3 & 4, since they both have similar damage.

They wanna see the rings..

So ill be pulling those out next week.

Ill know if its the oil pump as soon as i pull the oil pan... unfortunately i know what lack of oil can do to an engine.

ok.. they checked the head.... nothing.

In about 30 min ill find out how the block is.

It looks like ill be needing a set of new rings.

The engine oil was almost in perfect condition...

Whatever it chewed up is lost somewhere in the exhaust..

very odd... but like you said.. whatever the engine chewed on, probably went through the exhaust when it was done.

Just out of curiosity, were the rings gapped correctly?

start small... 1500 miles and then cross your fingers...

Keep up informed on the new engine!

The only way it would be long gone is if you dont have any cats. Otherwise it should be right there, or still in the motor.
