What is the deal with the RD1 tibs having the part number of A4BF-1 and the RD2 tibs having the number of A4BF-2 for their automatic transmissions?

What does this mean?

Thanks.

Probably a minor change, maybe gear ratios. Good luck getting an answer from Hyundai about it.

Maybe it's as simple as representing RD1 or RD2....

Maybe Beta1 or Beta2???

Either way if it is from a RD1 or RD2, it should work just fine.

Well could it be the electrical plugs and stuff that are say in a different position? Like for example. There was a transmission recall or "turning point" in the mid 1999 year, and I think thats what seperated the code of A4bf-1 and A4bf-2. So If I have a tiburon from the early 99' production (it was like january - july, or something along those lines) and mine is a rd1 tranny, will an rd2 tranny from a 2000 tib work in my 99, even if my 99 is from the first hal;f year production run? Because I am need a new tranny and can get a 2000 tranny for cheap right now, but I need to know if it is going to work with my tib as soon as possible. So if anyone has any information about the differences, if any, and if it will work, even though there might be these different part numbers or what the change in the mid year of 1999 makes a difference or not, it would really be of use. I am a bit confused, because whenever I look at a parts website, the trannys are devied in 96 - july of 99 and then they are also devided in second half of 99 - 2001.

Thanks.

Thepart numbers are probably just differences in Gearing, it doesn't matter, it'll fit AND work.

I actually phoned a hyundai dealership today and they told me the A4bf-2 (or half year 99 and up) tranny's wont work because the plugs and stuff arnt in the right place for the kind of mount my car has. They said it would bolt on but different sockets, so I don't know what to make of it.

considering there have been numerous amounts of ppl on this site that have put a 98 trans into a 2001... or the other way around... you should have no issues
