4 Grand Idle.. Help :(
I recently had my engine replaced and so on, all of that went well and the car was fine. My TPS was loose though since i had it glued on due to it not fitting properly from when i got the new TPS. My idle was around 2k sometimes if the TPS became loose and if it pushed it back down the idle leveled out to where it should be. But the other day when i was driving home from picking up glue to fix it my idle jumped up to 4k. I got home and pushed the TPS back onto where it goes and then started the car up and the idle stayed the same, no matter what i did with the TPS. I tried resetting the ECU in hopes that it'd cause the sensor to reset, but no luck. Right now my idle is still at 4k.
Anyone have any clues on how to resolve this issue?

ok, you should have some codes by now. You should get them read.
Disconnect your IAC and the idle should go down. If it doesn't then you may need a new IAC.
Check your throttle cable and throttle assy. Check for vacuum leaks.
Things are alot easier when you have a code reader

DTN, wtf does the IAC have to do with anything, his TPS is obviously still loose. You can't stick something like that on with GLUE. Plus, it's probably a Dae Sung, which should be replaced anyway.
The mount for the TPS on your throttle body probably got broken, or the screw holes stripped/gummed up, or something....
Sooo...How about you buy a new BBTB and a Kefico TPS, and solve the problem, instead of trying to temporarily fix it with glue tongue.gif
It is possible that this is not related to the TPS, but 90% of throttle/idle/acceleration issues are.

agreed. but if he unplugged it and didnt have a change it could be somewhere else. but i still kind of doubt it. get a used stock tb and a good tps. even if its not the problem, you should do it anyway

Well, i actually have lost my clip holding on my TPS so every once in a while it comes off, but the car actually runs fine without the TPS; only time it does anything real wierd is when i start it while the TPS is off, itll jump up to 3k rpms just for a second then falls down to 1100 or so. It has a hard time catching idle after letting off the throttle while cruising but doesnt high idle.
BUT, if the TPS reads a unusual number at idle (like when it goes bad) it will cause high idle, so if the TPS is attached and the car still high idles it means the TPS needs to be replaced.

He said he checked it by wiggling it, and it and didn't change anything when he unplugged it. This obviously has nothing to do with the TPS.
If the IAC was stuck opened, it would shoot the idle up dude. The IAC is what actually controls the engine speed at idle.
Something is either telling the IAC to stay open, and should be throwing a code. Or the IAC is stuck opened. Or the problem is a leak to the manifold.
The reason it is glued is because i replaced my Dae sung tps and the sensors didn't have the same clips so i had to cut part of the TPS to have it fit, it stayed glued there (gorilla glue) for over a year with no problems. I removed the IAC sensor and it caused the idle to drop to 3000.
How about you replace my current BBTB and TPS? zoned
Adjusting the throttle cable doesn't change the idle.
