Sounds like a plan to me.
Just make sure you keep it incase you have to put it back for inspections.
OzFxCoupe, I know they do yearly inspections in NSW but I don't think they would spot the missing canister as it's hidden from view.

Yeah, I think I might just do that... What exactly is the evap cannister for? What does it do? Why do the other Tibs not have this problem?

If I can remove it with no ill-effect on my car, I'll get rid of it (at least put it aside somewhere, just in case  ). I don't think it would fail any inspections though 'cause as Col said, it's pretty inconspicuous.

It's there for emissions, other tibs have them but they are in a different spot.

Well I think you can get some good HP from a nice CAI. 20 WHP may be pushing it but based around what else has been done to the car it is definatly possible. I had the Injen and could feel a pretty nice power increase. I just switched over to an AEM w/Bypass and you can feel the same difference on top of the Injen. So I feel the AEM w/Bypass will give you 100% of the wanted HP while the Injen will give you 50%. That is the best way I can explain it!
