2.ol Questions
ok so i just recenty put a motor in my car becuase i hydrolocked my old one i had a 1.8l and was supose to have gotten another 1.8 to replace it but the new one seems diff. so with the new motor in my rpms dont climb near as fast as the old... it still has power and alot of torque but the gears just dont wind out like they use to and it runs alot ruffer at idle... is ther by any chance that new motor is a 2.0l and not a 1.8l..what would be the easiest way to figure it out without having the vin. # to check?

The 1.8L in my parts cr has RD1.8 cast into the block under the manifold IIRC.
If you got a new transmission as well the gearing differences could explain the different running.
If not, just know that some hyundai engines run rougher than others. If you think there may be a problem ask your mechanic about it.

well it say rd1.8 on the block and i didnt switch out the trans.. the motor i got only had 20000 on it.. i dont have anyone around me mech. wise that can explain it or figure it out i did all the work myself.. just trying to figure out y my rpms dont rap out as fast anymore...
From what I saw at the junkyard, the block has 2.0/1.8 cast on the front of the block. You could look at the year on the cams and it would give you an idea of how old the engine is, but still i dont think that would help.

The HEAD has 1.8/2.0 on it. The block shouldn't.
If you replaced only the engine with another of the same displacement, I can only think two things:
The engine you got was on the other end of a trade when someone got a 1.8L cam from it
The head has other problems
Run an oil flush through it and change to a high quality synthetic, maybe it has some buildup in important places?
You hydrolocked an engine... is the MAFS okay? you might try cleaning the MAFS, throttle body, IAC, and intake manifold (or at least inspect it all, and clean the MAFS). You might have got some crud on something important. Possibly even an O2 sensor gone bad or a plugged catalytic converter, or partially obstructed exhaust from something in the water?

so water went into the engine. you changed the engine did you change the sensors as well? also if you have a 1.8l ecu running a 2.0l that also will make problems as well.
didnt change any sensors but there all good... how can u tell if u have a 1.8 intake cam or a 2.0. that would probably be the easiest way to tell right. and when u drive it runs fine just ruff idle. it just doesnt have the high end power that the old motor had.
