2.5" versus 3"
The AEM and Injen intakes have 3" tubing but I see on ebay that alot of the cheapo intakes are only 2.5"
Is there a big difference in performance between the 2 sizes?

The 3" will have slightly better throttle response, but the 2.5" could possibly even make more power than the 3" because air velocity will be high. I think it'll have more to do with the design than the diameter though.

I believe the MAF is 2.75", so neither are ideal.
(I could be wrong since I haven't had one in 5 years.)

I made mine out of mandrel bend 2.75" OD pipe only because it's the same size as the throttle body. Any larger or smaller and you would need to use adapters.

There was a MAF in the 01 Tib? Either size would work with a MAF because the couplers are attached to either side of it,and yes, MAF is 2.75".

Well, going back to the tests we did at HP back in '03... On the RD Tib, the AEM makes to most power out of all the (non-custom) intakes.

Actually...if I remember right...the Random Special made the most power out of any intake on the market....even the AEM, but not by much. It definitely wasnt a nice looking intake though, but it worked well.
