just woundering if its possible to put the v6 from the 99 tibs into a 98? would the motor mounts line up and how much of a PITA would it be to do this. i know a new tranny and ecu would be in order with the engine. any other major things to make this work? just curious, i like the look of the 98s uppose to the newer ones and i jsut got a fresh paint job and its looking pretty hot.

^^^It has????

I was unaware that the 99's came in a V6 gt. All this time I thought the GT's came out in 2003...my bad!

More or less:
97-99 same 1.8l (beta)
00-01 same 2.0 (beta)
no 02
03-present either 2.0 (beta 2) or 2.7l V6 (delta)

I think you meant 03 to a 98. In which case, it's been covered. Do a search.

The V6 is too big, it would require some chopping of the body and suspension uprights to shoe-horn it in. Just turbo your 4 for less than the cost with more power.

Ummmmm I know you are a noob here but be prepared to get flamed a bit! There was no V6 available in Tiburons until 2003. Transplanting a V6 into a 98 Tib would be a VERY tough job nothing would line up and would require huge amounts of custom fabricating. Would be alot cheaper to invest in a turbo setup and have more power than a V6 anyways.

Wow lots of posts popped up while was typing haha!

it has been done, but not technically in a tibby, but in a elantra which has pretty much the same under-pinnings. but as said, its not worth the work, for less money then you would spend swapping the v6 in, you could make more power building up the BETA motor you allready have. plus the BETA has allready been proven many times to be a stronger, and better designed motor then the DELTA v6

I wouldn't say that it would be impossible. But it will need quite a lot of work, good will and money. I have seen an 2.0 GK engine being put into a 1995 Accent and if that is possible than putting a V6 into an RD1 shouldn't be such a big problem. I guess... wink1.gif

Yeah well it is possible to do it..but the question is why?=D why do u want a V6 in an RD1? As Aust_Rd said just go turbo, save money, time, effort and get more power..

Technicaly it would be possible to do this but as others said it would require some body work to fit that huge brick in lmao.gif and you would increase your weight and get way less power than a turbo..unless u would be planning to mod the V6 afterwards, but is there a point? With all that money and time you would spend just buy a 2nd hand GK Tiburon fing02.gif

Like they all said, this has ben covered before, and it's cheaper and better to turbo the motor you have.

Locked.
