Window Switch
Part 1: Wiring (no this not how to make it look purdy.. watch for Part 2 on the mounting, passing through the firewall, etc)
I might have missed it but doing a search I found nothing on how to get one of these boxes to work.
My Test Rig (yes.. ugly I know)
A simple lamp to show it going on and off.
The MSD window switch has the following wires
Red: Main Power (my setup for this test was fuse + Switch + Red wire)
Black: Ground
White: The one that I tapped into the coils ground wire
Yellow: hooked up to my test light and later the relay for the solenoid
Grey: Not used on my setup (Yellow grounds when you hit your RPM window, the Grey opens the circuit in the window if you need that)
Setting the rpm window couldn't be easier..
it will start flashing at you to set it when you turn it on. If it stops doing that you can hold the MODE button down for about 3 secs to start it.
First flashing light is the ON rpm (yellow wire "normal" setup)
Second flashing light is the OFF rpm
Third light is the "wtf kinda coil setup are you using". On the Beta2, that will be 2 (= 2cyl for the waste spark setup)
What to do now that you know what wire does what?
Red,
hook it to a 12 vlt source
Black,
... ground it.
White! wire FROM the MSD box..
Take a look at the pic. The smaller yellow or green wires pick one, that is what you want to tap into. Just one ground! If you have a multimeter pick one of them WITHOUT power running to it with the key on.
To recap. Big with Power ... bad. Smaller no power ... good. I was kinda worried I was wrong about that and was expecting to blow up the box. I didn't, woot.

It should be hooked up 12 vlt source -> Test Light/solenoid -> Yellow Wire MSD Box
the box is the ground!
now the thing in action!
idle reading 700 rpm or for this thing .7
rpms still at idle, test light OFF
I set the range from 1100 rpm to 2000rpm.. see it "firing"?
and off again
Note: It has a 200rpm window where you have to move out of that range for some amount of time. This is to prevent chatter.. so if you set it to 800 rpm to test, it will stay on.
I hope this helps. I was really worried I was going to break something. LOL. I am sure that will happen once I get the system up and running.
I will go back and solder the wires together, etc. This was a test, just a test.
