^^^ im confused i was told 2002 elantras and older are beta 1, some 2003 elantras beta2 non VVT, most 2003+ elantras beta 2 with vvt

long story short
i have a 2002 elantra with a blown motor, and i just purchased an engine off some guy who said it came out of his 02 elantra. I just got home and it looks like the spark coils or what ever they are called have different plugs.. Now i think i might have bought an 03 engine

that is a beta 2, you can clearly see the map sensor on the intake manifold and the value cover is not the same as beta 1...now the question is if you have CVVT...you should call the dealer and give them your VIN and they should be able to tell you

aren't the cams different, with a 2-shape profile on the CVVT? The car is down anyway, pull the valve cover and just look at the cams.

THAT IS A NON VVT ENGINE.

THE CVVT ACUATOR IS ALLWAYS ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.

when you do that engine swap make sure you dont take the hubs off. just losen the knuckle so you can pull the axles out then pull the whole thing out the top. you will loose any a/c you had and you will have to refill all fluids.

should take 2 days if you dont hit any snags

PS. the engine you bought is auto so make sure if you have manual you switch the trans plates over so you can bolt in your starter.
