Knowledge Post: 1.8 Ecu
I'm Rev B but I can tell you my gas mileage definitely got better.
Also, your 39100-23940 questionable part - you answered the question yourself. that is the part number of the connector, not the ECU itself.

Here is what I found out about the 1.8 ECU's:
39150-23920 This the ECU found in the 1.8 Tiburon
39110-23900 1.8 96 Elantra
39110-23920 1.8 97 Elantra
39110-23940 1.8 98 Elantra
After going to the junkyard, I happened to find 15 97 Elantra's and not one 98 Elantra. So I'm going to put the 39110-23920 1.8 ECU from the 97 Elantra into my car and see how it runs.

I think all those ECUs you listed are Rev A....
Rev B ECUs only come from 1998 Elantra and some 1998 Tiburons. 1997 and before are Rev As. Its a narrow band, and can be a pain in finding one. If you want you could just snap up the one from that ebay auction I linked.
1.8 Rev A Tiburons use 39150-23920 ECUs, know this for sure. Use car-parts.com and search 1997 Tiburon 1.8 ECU and that what comes up. All of 1997 were Rev As.

Well, thats true heh laugh.gif Dunno if thats the actual case. There was someone on here who said they had that ECU and had problems with it. I don't know if he read the wrong serial location, or what. I know there are lots of these available, and I don't think that they just misread the serial. The correct serial is a lot bigger, was just something I noticed that someone could make a mistake over so I noted it.
I can't tell you if you my MPG has gone up laugh.gif I haven't been running around long enough with it. The car is a lot more fun to drive now. Off the line acceleration got quite a bit better, and shifting is much smoother. (I'm auto) I'm putting in a bunch of different mods right now, so I don't have it isolated to check my MPG.

I got one, will have it in a week. (btw thanks for the ebay link fing02.gif )
I didn't think of it, but my tib is a 98 (!) rev A - so I believe since I had that annoying cannister where the cold intake needs to sit. (thought that rev a is a 97 thing...)
It is a MAP based tib. Won't it be a problem to put in the computer? Are these rev B elantras MAF? or I'm still good?!
Thanks!

Erk, another oversight on my part. I forgot international Tibbies are sometimes MAP based instead of MAF. The 39110-23940 is MAF based... I'm unfamiliar with MAP and have no clue if they compatible or not.
This is the PITA way to check, but if you haven't swapped your ECU, pull it out, and read the serial off of it. If its 39110-23910 or 39150-23920 then you have the same Rev A ECU (2.0 or 1.8) that we use on MAF based cars. Therefore its compatible and you're good to go.
If its not, and says something different, then chances are that its not going to be compatible...
I don't know beyond that, sorry mate.
