Sorry to bring back (again) an old/dead post, but I have a little question/idea.

As far as I've looked, it looks like the s2000 starter button is nothing but a momentary switch (with a light)?

If so, wouldn't it be possible to use a $1 momentary switch from a local store?

Right now I'm looking into installing this switch, but I have a momentary switch lying right here, and it would also blend in with my shift console. (I plan on drilling a hole and mounting my button on my console, the console is black, as is the button, and would blend in and give it a cool look (in my opinion)) There are two posts on the switch, one for a battery (12V source) and one for "momentary accessory" (relay). The only problem I see is there is no ground for the switch, but because there is no light in this one (I read that the ground is for the light that is inside the switch), there shouldn't be any problem without the ground. So basically the ~$35 switch could be used with a more concealed $1 switch if my theory proves right. (Of course you would be missing the nice "Engine Start" caption with the light fing02.gif )

Does this sound logically, and if so, what are you guys' opinions that it would work.

Thanks guys!

on a relay you've got 2 switched contactacs and 2 coil contacts. You would hook the coil up so that ACC goes through the switch to the coil to ground. You would hook up the coil so power goes through the switched relay connections to the starter wire.

edit: power goes to the starter, not ACC... you may overload ACC.

It's all good now. Today I went ahead and did the mod and it works great!

Thanks! I'll have to give that a try here soon. I went and did the mod today using the $1 momentary switch instead of the $40 switch from Honda. I'll keep you guys updated on how its working.

For the mod I used a 12V rocker switch mounted under my steering column, ran that to an LED mounted on my shifter cover. Then I ran that to the momentary switch where my cigarette lighter was (now people who smoke and don't have a light will NEVER be allowed to smoke in my car! Two birds with one stone wink.gif) Works great, you have to turn the key to "ON" and then flip the rocker switch to on (Green LED will turn on on the cover) and you're set to turn the car on. The LED was just a useless light I thought would look good (and also ensure that you're getting voltage to the switch).
