Introduction:
If you have one of the following codes this DIY may be for you
P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Out of Range

I replaced my CKP sensor as a part of troubleshooting a rough ilde and took pictures for this DIY. The crankshaft Postition sensor is used for detecting engine RPM and the position of crankshaft.

Scope:
this diy will cover changing the CKP sensor

you will need:
small flathead screwdriver
10mm socket and wrench
Corona with a lime

Removal:
1. Start by disconnecting the Oil Pressure Switch to give you more room to work
a. pull back rubber sheath
b. depress tab
c. pull connector off of sensor


2. disconnect the plug connection from CKP sensor jack
a. remove connector from holder
b. remove connector clip from connector
c. disconnect electrical connection


3. Remove CKP sensor from engine
a. using a 10mm socket, remove bolt securing the CKP sensor to the engine block
b. apply a gentle wiggling motion to remove sensor from block
c. ensure that you remove the o-ring


prepare sensor:
a. in the picture of these sensors, the o-ring is located off of the sensor and the sensor has a lip built in. Some CKP sensors do not have a lip built in and require an additonal part. Ensure that you have the suitable parts.
b. if o-ring is in good shape, you may reuse it. The top o-ring pictured is too large.


Installation:
Installation is the reverse of removal
