Introduction:
If you have one of the following codes, this DIY may be for you
P1605 Rough Road Sensor Malfunction
P1606 Rough Road Sensor Not Rational
I replaced this sensor as a part of troubleshooting a rough idle. The acceleration sensor is used to cancel the knock sensor's command to the ECU in case you are on a rough road. This accomplishes a determination of a false knock signal from the engine.
Scope:
This diy will cover replacement of the Acelleration sensor, also known as the Rough Road sensor.
you will need:
small flathead screwdriver
10mm socket and wrench
Corona with a lime
Removal:
1. disconnect electrical connection from Rough Road Sensor
a. remove the clip
b. disconnect the plug from the jack.
2. remove 2 10mm bolts securing the rough road sensor to the bracket.
Installation:
Installation is the reverse of removal
Notes:
There are at least 2 types of Acelleration sensors used in beta engines. These are 2 types.
