Ok guys this is my first DIY so, I cleaned and polished my engine last weedend and wanted to let everyone else know how to do the same.

Time: 3-10 hours depending on how perfect you want it, it would prolly help if you did it in the shade or garage, not in your driveway in the summer in Florida
Tools/ materials: a dremel helps alot
rags
220 wet and dry sandpaper
purple power ina spray bottle
Mothers mag and allumuinm polish
Diffuculty: very easy, just need patience

Before 02.gif

This is when I just cleaned it with wd40 and a rag, dont do this it barley cleans your engine and when I was driving to school after I did it the heat vents all the sudden shot smoke in because of the wd 40 residue

Step one: polish your engine with the mothers and rags, it will turn black then wipe it off

Step 2: use the 220 grit wet and dry to sand the IM and lip of the engine, above the heat shield. sand these down and where ever else is rough too if you really want those were the only 2 spots where I decided to do it

Step 3: to see how amazing the engine can look put the mothers on the one machined surface of the engine above the radator hose, then use a dremel with a polishing tip on it and polish it, I did it until I could see myself laugh.gif

Step 4: Be patient and polish the rest of the engine and IM with the dremel and mothers, wipe it off when it turns black, you'll get the hang of it its really easy

Step 5 use the purple power stuff to spray the areas in the engine where there is dirt built up, its a degreaser, DONT GET IT ON THE ENGINE, I was told because it suposeldy turns allumum black so dont spray the engine or the IM or any other stuff, I sprayed around te top of the struts, below the PS resovir and where the air box used to be, then to get it off I used a hose and didnt hit any wires or anything, but you can prolly use a wet rag

After B)

This was a 2 day thing for me because I had to work the first day and it was really hot but can prolly be done in one day if you are very patient

the dremel and polishing bit is a good idea. Did you use one bit for the entire job, cuz those can get pricey. thanks for the tips, I'll prob clean up my engine when I decide to get all the ricey engine dress up stuff (ya know, chroma and aluminum caps everywhere, and braided radiator hoses, huge 0 gage ground wires, the whole deal).

Your engine bay looks VERY clean btw. Get a shot of the entire engine bay (to get an overall view of the cleanliness)

I used two tips laugh.gif , you could maybe get away with one if you sand really well and make sure the tip dosent hit and rough surfaces because in someplaces it ripped the tip up where I couldnt see it

I have a different engine in my tib, it's a yard motor .. so everything is really corroded on the outside.
What would take that off? I tried using Orange cleaner, SOS, Water, and a toothbrush ... but nothing worked.

Well sanding will take it off, but try purple power which works good for thegrime and stuff in the engine bay, so you dont have a beta or you have a junk yard motor?
